Joy Art Music

Before ‘Lavesh Music’, we were ‘Joy Art Music’, the premiere family owned and operated jingle production and media company. Founded in the early 80’s by Admen-couple Butch & Brenda Stewart, their credits include “We Love To See You Smile” for McDonalds, “Get With The Program” (featuring Patti LaBelle), “Run On” for Oprah Winfrey, “Oh-oh-oh, it’s The Tom Joyner Morning Show” for syndicated radio host Tom Joyner, “Spud Mackenzie” for Bud Lite, and the infamous “Ba-da-ba-ba-bah, I’m Lovin’ It” for McDonalds.

This legacy company rebranded as Good Stewart Productions in 2007, and rebranded again as Lavesh Music Publishing in 2020.

Get With The Program

One of our biggest highlights as a company and as song-writers, is the work we did for “Get With The Program” (featuring Patti LaBelle) and “Run On” for Oprah Winfrey’s network television show. These campaigns ran a combined 20 years (clip below).

The Ultimate Family Biz

After rebranding as Good Stewart Productions, our first media project was an original web-series entitled “The Ultimate Family Biz”. The series told the story of Butch, Brenda, and their teenage sons Leslie and Brandon working together to develop their record label and jingle company.

The series sits modestly on Youtube as one of the first web-series to feature an African-American family working together in the music industry. It also features the family seeking therapy to help break generational curses, and strengthen their family bond (clip above).

“Ultimate Family Biz” was never picked up due to its positive depiction of a black family in business, but it did go on to inspire shows such shows as Fox’s “Empire” featuring Terrence Howard and Tara P Henson, VH1’s “Family Business” featuring Brandy and Ray J, and a plethora of others.

Heavenly Chior

In May of 2017 our beloved Founder Morris ‘Butch’ Stewart went home to be with the Lord. This was not just a shock to his family, but all the creative people he was able to inspire throughout his 50 year career. His way with people, his giving spirit, and his heart for music and media will continue to be celebrated through the lives of his wife Brenda, his sons Leslie and Brandon, and his grandchildren.

“I always fantasized about running the family business, I just never saw it without Dad being around. Sometimes when I’m in the studio recording, I can hear him whisper ”That last note was a little sharp” (said in love of course)

FINDING Brenda Mitchell

Today, Brenda misses Butch dearly while supporting the family as they continue their legacy. She feels blessed to have had such a “fun and long-lasting relationship.” Brenda remembers all the magic and music they both shared spanning a extraordinary 48 years.

“Butch is my forever love. I will always love him. I’m going to work on me, live this part of my life, and one day I believe I’ll see him again.”

- Brenda Mitchell Stewart

THE LEGEND OF FRANTIQUE

The legend of “Frantique” is a documentary film produced by Lavesh Music. It’s the epic tale of Brenda Mitchells chart-topping disco-smash throwback, she discovers 30 years later (Clip below).

Brand New Morning

At the top of the millennium, ‘Joy Art Music’ became Good Stewart Productions; a media company focused on original music-based content. Our Pillsbury ad “Brand New Day”, featured gospel megastars Mary-Mary in a “live” recording session. This is a production template now widely used by some of the industries top agencies and brands such as Allstate, Nationwide, and others (Clip below).

Oh-oh-oh!

Little known fact: Joy Art Music is also the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” spin-off entity known as “Uncle Butches Live House”, or UBLH. This jingle-singing web-series featured a cast of musicians, singers, and rappers performing live (and pre-recorded) tracks to the tune of “Oh-oh-oh, it’s The Tom Joyner Morning Show”. This tag transformed Joy Art Music into syndicated radio royalty, spanning from 1994 to 2020.

The ‘Live House’ web series was a TJMS staple. Each week a talent would grace the Live House stage; one of the very first independently owed interactive sound stages complete with advance lighting systems, cameras, psych wall, and a fully functional recording studio just across the hall.

THROWBACKS

From Ashford & Simpson to Earth Wind & Fire, Butch and Brenda Stewart have created music for some of the greatest artist in the world (pictures below).

A Lavesh Revelation

In 2020, Good Stewart Productions became Lavesh Music, an internet based music and media company designed and operated by Butches sons Leslie, Brandon, and daughter in-law Keir. In his honor, Lavesh Music continues trailblazing the music and media tradition; producing spots such as “Today is Saturday” for Michelle Obama/ AdCouncil, “McNuggets Love” for McDonald’s, “Going Places” for Toyota, “Change & Harmony” for Coke and many more.

McNuggets Love” is a Clio Award winning ad with over 5 million streams online. This Mc-R&B jam was a viral success and remains a cult classic that still has people singing “Don’t be stingaaaay.

The McDonalds favorite “Freestyle” features Lavesh Music CEO Leslie Stewart at the beginning of his ad career. This spot was also the starting point for mega-pop-star Omarion (clip above).

LAVESH MUSIC

We will always pay homage to the accomplishments of Butch and Brenda Stewart. Their legacy lives on through their children, already paving a way for young creative entities everywhere.
